Blackberry have just announced that they are making their PRIV smartphones available in Nigeria, through SLOT retail outlets.
According to CEO John Chen, the company has kept its promise of only building an Android phone if it can reach the high security standards its Blackberry OS offered. John Chen added that the new device will offer best in class security for enterprise customers.
The BlackBerry Priv is powered by a Snapdragon 808 chipset, and comes with 3GB of RAM. It is said to feature an 18MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, and run Android Lollipop.
It’ll be interesting to see how the market responds to this device, as Blackberry still holds a special place in many Nigerian customers hearts, whose first Smartphone was a Blackberry device.
For now, Samsung remains at the top of the food chain, as far as high-end Android devices go, in Nigeria.
