Senegal close to reaching 100% mobile penetration

The announcement was made by M Abou Abel THIAM of Senegal’s IT regulatory body, during the Global Symposium for Regulators, which was held from June 3rd to 5th 2014 in Manama, capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He revealed that the total number of mobile lines was estimated at over 14 million in 2014 with an average increase of about 7% per quarter. Senegal’s population is estimated at 14 millions in 2014, which establishes that the country is now close to become a member of the growing list of countries boasting a 100% mobile penetration.

He did not forget to mention that the Internet market had been constantly evolving since 2008 with a subscriber base of more than 3 million lines (26% penetration rate) in 2014.
