It was in Bangkok during a Networking Lunch organized during ITU’s Telecom World 2013 that the gabonese Minister of Digital Economy and Communication tried his best to appeal to investors in ICT sector. He highlighted the great ambitions of the country in this area considered crucial by more and more governments on the continent.
“This Networking Lunch gives me the opportunity to present our strategy to develop the ICT sector with an emphasis on the role that investors, equipment, solution integrators and especially donors present here,” said Blaise Louembé according to GabonReview.com.
Major infrastructure projects contained in the Strategic Plan “Emerging Gabon” were broken down during the event. In particular, the city of the future called “Cyber Mandji Island”, technology and IT Park, Wimax network coupled to the cloud that will support development of e-government, the leap from 2G to 4G to boost development of mobile services and the migration from analogue television to digital terrestrial television (DTT).
Gabon is a country that has often been cited for its potential in the IT industry. Let us hope those plans come to fruition…
