Orange Mali and the NGO Rongead have launched a project called Senekela last July 25th. Senekela is a platform that advises and informs farmers through voice call, USSD technology or SMS.
The farmers who are subscribed to Orange will receive tips from agricultural specialists. They will receive information pertaining to the prices of their some of their produces such as corn, onions and shea nuts within the neighboring markets.
The service will be available from Monday to Friday from 8.30 AM to 4.30 PM and on Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM. The service can be accessed by dialing 37 333 and will cost 50 fcfa per call. The prices will be available by dialling #222#. The project is still in its pilot phase and is only available in the Sikasso region at the moment. It will be a year before the project is deployed all across the country.
The Malian farmer will now be able to access quality and precise information, without having to move in order to get key information that would lead business growth.
