Air France Gabon can now buy their airfare tickets thanks to their phones, as long as they are Airtel subscribers. The Indian network provider and the French airline have signed a partnership deal on July 10th in Libreville, in the presence of Nicolas SOULIE, director of Air France Gabon and Charles Alexis BOUKINDA, director at Airtel Money.
Airtel users will now buy their tickets which would have been booked straight from their phones using Airtel Money. To do so, the buyer has to send the words “Air France” the price of the fare, the customer code and the references pertaining to the flight booking. He or she will then receive a confirmation SMS. The electronic ticket will be sent by email and will cost 1,000 fca ($2) over a “classic” ticket.
Airtel Money now has 300,000 users in Gabon and was only launched in 2012.
