Mobile money can now go from one country to the next on the African continent. Network provider Orange, which is very present on the continent, has just launched a new service called Orange Money International Transfer which will connect 3 West African countries in terms of money exchange: Mali, Ivory Coast and Senegal..
This new product is an extension of the mobile money services that already exist in the listed countries. “We are proud to be the first network provider to offer its clients the opportunity to easily transfer mobile money internationally in this area of West Africa,” declared Thierry MILLET, head of mobile banking at Orange.
MILLET has stated that Orange Money International Transfer was the result of several months of work. The goal is to extend this service in all the countries in which Orange Money is already in used; a total of 13 countries in the EMEA zone with over 7 million active users.
