While the Korean company advertises its Galaxy S4 throughout the African continent, the Vice President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Africa, George FERREIRA, states that smartphones with a price tag under $50 are not likely to be available any time soon.
FERREIRA states that whether it is at Samsung, or any of its competitors (Apple, Blackberry etc.), providing smartphones under $50 in the near future is rather unlikely. Although Asian manufacturers may be able to produce smartphones that can be sold at such a low price, Samsung Electronics Africa‘s CEO cannot speak for the quality of both the product and the services it provides.
Although smartphone prices have already made it under $100 in various African nations, they remain out of reach for the less economically fortunate.
