A team of researchers, led by a Eritrean scientist at the KTH Royal Institute in Sweden, has made an astonishing discovery that could simplify even more the process of HIV test thanks to the optics present in DVD drives.
The idea is to transform a regular DVD player into a laser microscope capable of analyzing blood samples. “Using an ordinary DVD player, we have created a cheap analytical tool for DNA, RNA, proteins and even entire cells,” explained Dr. Aman RUSSOM, head of the team of researchers in cell physics. ”
This new advanced technology will also allow for more diagnostics of tropical diseases such as malaria. Find more informations by following the link: http://www.kth.se/en/aktuellt/nyheter/dvd-lasaren-gor-comeback-som-hiv-testare-1.380911
