Sign the StopWatchingUs Petition against PRISM

StopWatchingUs

PRISM, is still at the heart of conversations. A “defender of a free web” has just joined the battle. The Mozilla Foundation has created the website StopWatching.Us to fight, in its own way, against the PRISM programme. On this one paged website, the netizens are invited to register and sign a petition against the FISA law, which authorizes the surveillance in the name of national security.

Alex FOWLER, head of leading strategy and operational initiatives on privacy has stated that, “when users fear government surveillance… a free and open Web becomes untenable,” he has added that Mozilla is not in favor of ” an Internet where everything we do is secretly tracked or logged by companies or government.”

At the top of the petition page, quotes such as the following are scrolling:

“No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.”– UN Declaration on Human Rights
“Unwarranted government surveillance is an intrusion on basic human rights that threatens the very foundations of a democratic society.”-Tim Berners LEE, creator of the World Wide Web
At the writing of this article, the petition has collected over 100,000 signatures. You can sign it HERE.
