This year will be held the first Social Media Awards in Kenya. The event’s goal is to award the people or brands with the most influence on social media as well as Kenyan bloggers.
The event’s organizer is Martin MULI along with online market place site OLX says that “it will be a battle pitting celebrities against each other, media personalities, corporate organisations and individual users.”
The award ceremony will be on August 9th 2013, but apparently, the OLX SoMA will unfold in three stages:
- The first will be where the Kenyan netizens will choose candidates from different categories on the event’s official site. This stage began on June 4th and will be over on June 30th.
- During the second stage, the panel will decide the final nominees from the web users’ list from July 3rd until July 18th.
- The third will be the voting session that will go from July 19th until the ceremony.
Many prizes are in store for the winners. Peter NDIANGUI, General Manager at OLX has announced that his firm would give out 100,00 KSh (600,000 FCFA) to the most influential personality on Facebook. The best advertising agencies online will shhare the sum of 250,000 KSh (1,500,250 FCFA)
