Ecofund: Crowdfunding Works in Africa


When technology comes to the rescue to nature. While crowdfunding is slow in growth on the African continent, one platform seems to have made its way on the net to allow netizens to raise money for a cause.

Among the funded projects, a biopark in Casamance, bird observatory in Mauritania and more recently an expedition to clean the sea water has been funded with 1,977 euros when the requested amount was 1,200 euros. After being awarded at Apps4Africa, the crowdfunding platform has been able to finance several projects thanks to the growing support to nature in Senegal and elsewhere.
